Week 2: A Good Gift (For Myself)

Image
Two weeks ago, my manager surprised me and my other Summit colleague with Best Buy gift cards for a merrier holiday. It's been an extended period of time since I've purchased anything from this fine establishment. Even my Rewards Zone account has expired. What do I do with this gift card? It took me a good hour of aimless ambling (to get some extra steps in, too, of course) and an excruciating debate with my conscience to decide on what would be the most practical items to purchase. Zumba DVDs? Oh wait, everything is on Blu-Ray now and I don't exactly care to purchase a player or overuse Chris' PS3 to display Beto's gyrating hips. Wii Mu sports-y stuff? Nah, I don't want a new console. The newest console I have is the Dreamcast that my dearest friends bought for me. (It's still at home in LA and still means the world to me.). A cover for my phone? Nope, this store doesn't carry the appropriate case. A phone charger for the car? For $30? Sure. I can jus...

Getting Back on the Work-Out Horse

Yesterday's Results The scale reads: 147 lbs. (Analog scale - I know it's lying!) Goal: 127 lbs. Other aerobic activities: Dance Your Body Thin - 50 minutes I'm glad I did those 50 minutes of aerobics. I loaded myself up with carbs to get ready for the run that's happening in 7 hours. It wasn't the best type of carbs (fatty McFat fat kinds of carbs of the waffle fries variety), but I'm pretty fueled up for a 5K. I can honestly say it felt good doing the aerobics with that weighted belt. I felt tired at first, but during the rest of the day I was able to stay alert. When I took off the weighted belt, I felt like Atlas letting go of Earth. It made me work out that much more. I was challenged with any arm toning segment. I always knew I didn't have upper body strength, but my arms feel like 2 very heavy lead sticks. I'm more motivated to move around now. However, it's time for a much needed rest for tomorrow's run.

You trust the quality of what you know, not quantity

Yesterday's/Today's Results The scale reads: 145 lbs. (Analog scale - the digital one is at kind sir's) Goal: 137 lbs. The stupid Wal*mart pedometer reads: 7040 steps, 1.777 mi., 292 calories (Still looks a little fishy considering I got lost walking around a high school judging a science fair yesterday) Other aerobic activities: 10 minutes of 10 Minute Solution: Dance Your Body Thin 50 minutes of 10 Minute Solution: Knockout Body Walking around with ankle weights for 20 minutes (part of the pedometer count) OK, I may have overdone it yesterday with the aerobic activities because I felt like the ultimate McFatty-Fat-Fat. I don't know if the quality of the "workouts" exceeded the quantity of it. Since I didn't use the same scale to weigh myself, I can't really tell if it did anything. Then again, does one day really make a difference? Here's a snippet of the peppy Andrea leading me through the "Dance Your Body Thin" routines:...
